An official delegation of the Church of Rome visited the Sacred See of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in order to attend the celebration of the memory of its founder, the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
The Papal Delegation, headed by Cardinal Curt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, and its members, Archbishop Paul Fitzpatrick Russell, Apostolic Nuncio in Ankara, Bishop Brian Farrell, Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, and the Very Rev. Andrea Palmieri, Undersecretary of the same Council, was received today, Friday, November 29, 2019, by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, was attended by the Metropolitan Geron John of Pergamon, Archbishop Job of Telmessos, the Orthodox Co-Chair of the International Joint Committee on Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, and Archimandrite Agathangelos Siskos. They discussed the life of the two Churches and their witness in the modern world.
