With the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and in consultation with His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston, Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, has appointed Archons James D. Speros and Constantine Sideridis Regional Commanders for the Order in the Metropolis of Boston.
Archons Speros and Sideridis succeed Archons Drake G. Behrakis and Aristotle Papanikolaou, who recently informed Dr. Limberakis of their intention to step down as Regional Commanders and in recognition of their previous service Dr. Limberakis invited both Archons Behrakis and Papanikolaou to serve as Emeritus Regional Commanders, and they accepted.
His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros stated: “For decades now, Archon James Speros has been distinguished for his tireless service to our Holy Church. As an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, he has given of himself in a wide variety of capacities for the support and defense of our Holy Mother Church. The Metropolis of Boston will now benefit immensely from his remarkable and God-given energy and talents.”
“Archon Costa Sideridis,” His Eminence added, “has served with distinction on the Archdiocesan Council, as part of the FAITH Endowment’s Executive Education Program in Strategic Leadership and Transformative Acton (SLTA), and in a variety of other initiatives within the Metropolis of Boston. He is a superb choice to be a Regional Commander for the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and is certain to distinguish this position with the devotion and dedication which he has shown in his other avenues of service to our Holy Mother Church.”
“It is with immense gratitude to Almighty God and His All-Holy Mother, the Panagia, that I make the appointment of Archon James Speros,” said Dr. Limberakis. “Archon James has been a close friend and a fellow laborer in the vineyards of the Lord for thirty years now. A devoted Greek Orthodox Christian, he sees protecting and defending the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Holy Center of our Church, as an absolute imperative.”
Dr. Limberakis also noted: “Archon Constantine Sideridis has shown himself in numerous ways to be a worthy son of our Holy Mother Church of Constantinople. He is co-chair of our International Archons Committee, which has the critical task of coordinating Order of St. Andrew International initiatives, including the upcoming International Religious Freedom Conference scheduled in May 2024 in Athens, Greece.
Archon Speros remarked: “I cannot overstate my gratitude to His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, National Commander Dr. Limberakis and the entire leadership of the Order for providing me with this opportunity to continue and strengthen my service to God’s Holy Church as a Regional Commander.”
Said Archon Sideridis: “It has been my honor to serve as an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the last seven years. This new responsibility as Regional Commander for the Metropolis of Boston is one that I approach with gratitude to God and trust in Him, and with a determination to strengthen the Order and further its sacred mission of supporting and defending the Ecumenical Patriachate of Constantinople.”
