An Extraordinary Book By An Extraordinary Man, About An Extraordinary People

Dear Brother Archons,

You may have already heard about an exciting new book, The Extraordinary Greek People, by our fellow Archon, Andy Manatos. The book highlights the many successes of Greeks from ancient times to the present, and the glories of Greek culture and civilization. Its purpose is to help Greek-Americans, regardless of the percentage of their Greek heritage, and others to understand what Isocrates reportedly said: “Being Greek is not so much a term of birth, as of mentality.” This fascinating book shows how Greek culture and way of life can be exceedingly helpful to people in America today, whether or not they are of Greek descent.

The Extraordinary Greek People includes short essays on the value of Hellenism by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and over 50 of our community’s most successful people, including a number of Archons.

Andrew E. Manatos, Archon Depoutatos, served as a U.S. Senate committee staff director and an assistant secretary during the administration of President Jimmy Carter. He founded the Washington, D.C., public affairs company of Manatos & Manatos in 1983; the Washington Post described the firm as “one of Washington’s most powerful lobbying firms.”

You can order the book, which is made available by the non-profit Washington Oxi Day Foundation, on Amazon here. or, if ordering 10 or more books, contact the Foundation at info@oxidayfoundation.org to purchase the books at a reduced bulk rate.
