This Grandson of Greek Immigrants Dreamed of Great Things in the Music World and Made Them Come True

Dear Brother Archons and Friends of the Archons of Ecumenical Patriarchate:

For over forty years, the internationally acclaimed conductor, music director and producer Archon Peter Tiboris has been a titan of the music world. His company, MidAmerica Productions, has brought together conductors, soloists, and choral and orchestral ensembles from the U.S. and abroad to appear at New York’s top venues, and his worldwide initiative, MidAm International, Inc., has presented concerts in Vienna, Salzburg, Florence, Verona, Paris, Lisbon, Porto, Athens, and elsewhere. Now, a new book, Peter Tiboris: A Musical Odyssey tells the story of this remarkable son of our Omogeneia.

Peter Tiboris: A Musical Odyssey details Archon Peter’s life devoted to music and the ways in which he benefited from the support of his father and other family members. It explains how MidAmerica Productions became inextricably linked with Carnegie Hall, and how major composers and their works inspired and sustained his commitment to share his love of music with the world.

The renowned English conductor and composer John Rutter, CBE, remarks: “If I was running a bookstore I would have trouble deciding where to shelve Peter Tiboris: a Musical Odyssey. Does it belong with biography, social history, music, business studies, travel, or is it a self-help book? It encompasses all of these categories and more, with the utterly absorbing story of an American musician from a small town in Wisconsin, the grandson of Greek immigrants, who dreams of great things in his chosen world of music and makes them come true. We learn of his Greek heritage, of the poverty which led his grandparents to seek a new life in America, of the Orthodox Christian faith and tradition which his family steadfastly maintained in a new land and which has sustained him to this day. We see the family ties which so strongly underpin Greek-American life, and the moral and work ethic gently instilled into him by his kindly father.”

The book includes photographs that illustrate Archon Tiboris’s life and career, and a number of appendices which include listings of all his domestic and professional engagements, and the conductors and choirs that performed under the auspices of MidAmerica Productions and MidAmerica International at Carnegie Hall, and elsewhere around the world, as well as at the Festival of the Aegean at the Apollo Theater on the island of Syros in Greece.

Peter E. Tiboris was invested as an Archon on October 9, 2022 and conferred with the offikion Ieromniman.
