The Ecumenical Patriarch expresses his grief over the fatal accident in Greece

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his profoundest sorrow over the tragic train accident that happened late Tuesday night, February 28, 2023 in the area of Tempe, Greece, in which dozens lost their lives or were injured.

His All-Holiness, during Wednesday’s Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at which he presided in Chorostasia, prayed fervently that the All-Merciful God would grant repose to the souls of the victims and strengthen their families, as well as provide for the speedy recovery of the injured. He also prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims of the two fatal car accidents that happened earlier in the same area of Tempe.

The Ecumenical Patriarch contacted the president of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou expressing to her, and through her to the entire pious people of Greece, the condolences and support both of himself and of the Holy Great Church of Christ.
