The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Istanbul Visits the Ecumenical Patriarchate

The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Istanbul, Mr. Cui Wei, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Wednesday, October 30.

Mr Wei, who is the first representative of the People’s Republic of China to visit the sacred See of the Holy Great Church of Christ, was welcomed by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and had the opportunity to discuss issues related to the life and initiatives of the Ecumenical Throne. The Consul General was also informed of the spiritual activity carried out by the Holy Metropolitan of Hong Kong, which, under his jurisdiction, oversees the formation and strengthening of the Orthodox believers living there. Mr. Wei, for his part, briefed the Ecumenical Patriarch on religious and social life in China and said that he would be glad to see him visit his country.

Immediately thereafter, Mr. Wei, accompanied by Patriarchal Deacon Jacob, visited the Holy Patriarchal Church and was informed about its history and the sacred relics kept there.
