Last month, National Commander Anthony J. Limberakis, MD issued a statement on behalf of the Order of St. Andrew condemning the anti-Semitic comments of the Metropolitan of Piraeus. President David Saltiel of the Central Israel Council of Greece responded to this message thanking the National Commander on behalf of the Greek Jewish Community, stating the following:
Dr. Anthony Limberakis, President
The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle
Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in America

Dear Mr. President,
On behalf of the Greek Jewish Community, I would like to most warmly thank you for the generous support and stating clearly your position on the issue that arose from the entire conduct of the Metropolitan of Piraeus.
We recognize and honor the longstanding efforts of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in developing cooperation between religions in the spirit of interfaith respect and tolerance adhered to by the Orthodox Church. The fight against intolerance and anti-Semitism should be a concern for the global community in efforts to maintain the spirit of peace and brotherhood.
With much honor and respect
The President
David Saltiel
