Beginning the evening of Friday, March 19 through Saturday, March 20, 2004, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate will gather at the Saint Basil Academy in scenic Garrison, New York to conduct a national Lenten retreat. This years retreat marks the second time the Archons will gather to attend a national Lenten retreat. The retreat will be conducted under the spiritual guidance of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and His Grace Bishop Savas, Bishop of Troas and Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America who will serve as retreat master.
Based on last years highly successful historic retreat and the enormously positive feedback from participants, Archons from across the country will once again be invited to participate in what is certain to be a spiritually uplifting and moving event. As Archons, it is important that we keep our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the center of our lives and reenergize our commitment to Him, said James D. Speros, member of the National Council of the Order of St. Andrew and head of the Spirituality Committee. I know of no better time in the year than the Lenten period to get away from the distractions of our personal and business lives to reflect on how we can lead a more Christ-centered existence, he said.
Dr. Anthony Limberakis, National Commander of the Order of St. Andrew is delighted with the emphasis the Archons have placed on strengthening their spirituality and in convening the retreat at the Saint Basil Academy. We are truly honored and privileged to have His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and His Grace Bishop Savas of Troas lead us into the coming Lenten season with this retreat, he said. The Saint Basil Academy serves as a perfect venue for Archons to deepen their faith in Christ and strengthen their commitment to serve as defenders of Orthodox faith, he continued.
All Archons throughout the United States are invited to participate in this important event and will receive additional details on the retreat in the mail in the coming weeks.
