Interview of Archon Metaxas with Archon Tsougarakis on the recovery of the stolen 9th C. manuscript

Archon John Metaxas, of WallStreetNorth, recently interviewed Archon George Tsougarakis, a partner at Hughes Hubbard & Reed, on the fascinating story of his firm’s recovery of a 9th Century handwritten copy of the New Testament that was looted from a monastery in northern Greece by Bulgarian soldiers during World War I and went missing for 99 years. Despite the voluntarily return of the Bible by the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, the case is not over, as Archon Tsougarakis seeks,on behalf of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Holy Metropolis of Drama, the rightful return of other priceless volumes stolen from the same monastery that now reside at Duke and Princeton Universities and the Morgan Library and Museum in New York.

The Order of Saint Andrew has also recently called on Duke University, Princeton University and the Morgan Library to return these Holy Manuscripts stolen from the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Learn about these efforts of The Order.
