Dear Brother Archons,

The Archon office was recently notified regarding the sad news of the passing of Archon Elias “Lee” Gounardes, Archon Kastrinsios of Staten Island, NY who fell asleep in the Lord on July 24, 2024. Archon Lee was invested as an Archon on November 17, 1997 and was a long-time and faithful son of the Mother Church. Archon Lee was among the very first Archons to lead an advance team in preparation for the First Ecumenical Patriarchal Voyage to America beginning with Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios of blessed memory… he continued to serve in that capacity for subsequent Patriarchal Visitations and for which we will always be grateful.

On behalf of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate we express our deep sympathy to his family with abiding faith in our Lord and Savior and with hope in His resurrection!
