On September 14-15, the Huffington Ecumenical Institute (HEI) at Hellenic College Holy Cross (HCHC) hosted a colloquium recognizing the 35th anniversary of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s enthronement. The event took place under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and hosted at HCHC’s Maliotis Cultural Center in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Numerous distinguished scholars, Hierarchs, Archons, HCHC faculty members and students were in attendance with speakers and subsequent panel discussions reflecting on His All-Holiness’s 35 years of unprecedented Patriarchal ministry – a ministry that has shaped contemporary Orthodox Christianity and influenced inter-Orthodox Christian dialogue, interfaith engagement and the imperative of environmental stewardship.
Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate were well-represented with presentations by Dr. Tom Papademetriou, Dr. James Skedros and James Speros, Regional Commander of the Archons in New England. Other distinguished speakers provided insightful presentations covering ecclesial perspectives, inter-Orthodox and Ecumenical relations, and social issues including human trafficking and the environment. The colloquium offered a unique opportunity to engage with the ministry of His All-Holiness whose leadership continues to inspire us and shape our Church and our world.
