The Hellenic Federation of New Jersey is honoring Archon Dr. Elias A. Iliadis with the Hippocrates Community service award at their 10th Annual Gala Banquet on Sunday, October 15th at 5:30pm at the Graycliff Restaurant, Moonachie, New Jersey. The Federation is recognizing his tireless service to the community and the Orthodox church.
Archon Dr. Iliadis is currently Program Director, Interventional cardiology fellowship, and Associate Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, NJ. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
In 2015, he served the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America as a camp physician at Ionian Village, Glyfa Greece. Dr. Iliadis’s community involvement includes long term participation on the Parish council of St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church including Chairman of the Education Committee, Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President of Stewardship as well as participation in the annual AGORA committee. Archon Elias was recognized by the Greek Orthodox church and community for his leadership and dedication and was installed as an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate by His-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in 2021 and conferred with the offikion Exarchos.
Archon Dr. Iliadis is a Founding Board Member and past President of the Hellenic Medical Society of Philadelphia. Elias is the immediate past President of the Hellenic Federation of New Jersey and was commissioned as New Jersey Hellenic Heritage commissioner by Governor Phil Murphy in 2109. He was selected as a board member of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Alumni Association and serves as Vice President. He is the current president of the Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia, dedicated towards establishing a Hellenic Cultural Center in Philadelphia. Additionally, Elias has contributed to the Greek community as a board member and prior treasurer of the World Hellenic Biomedical Association. Archon Elias completed two terms as a Board member of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia. More recently, Archon Elias is a board member of the Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America dedicated to promoting cooperation and unity among the Greek Medical diaspora.
Archon Elias is married to Katherine Dedes Iliadis, RPH, they have three children: Sophia, 27, Nicholas, 24, and Elena, 21. The family resides in Moorestown, New Jersey. His parents were immigrants from Nea Smyrna, Athens and Pireaus, Greece and both were refugees from Pontos.
