On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, His Eminence delivered a benediction at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. His Eminence prayed that our “Eternal and Ever-Living God, Source of goodness and grace…Grant unto the nominee for President of these United States, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, to pursue the highest offices in the Land with love, with hope, and with faith in our Nation.” His Eminence further prayed: “Grant unto the delegates to engage with their fellow citizens in a spirit of joy and duty, always seeking the best for our country.”
His Eminence also asked for “special blessings upon President Joseph R. Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and all their family; for he has given a lifetime of service and sacrifice to the American People, and has stood with nobility and integrity upon the international stage to lead in the best traditions of the United States.”
His Eminence’s benediction at the Democratic National Convention followed his appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, July 15, 2024, where he offered an invocation. His Eminence prayed that our “Almighty and Eternal God…Look down now upon this gathering of our Nation’s political leaders, and grant them illumined hearts and minds, as they strive to serve their fellow citizens through this Republican National Convention.”
His Eminence continued by praying that the Republican nominee, President Trump, as well as his advisors and councilors, be granted “wisdom, grace, and the spirit of service.” As the Convention closely followed the events of Saturday, July 13, when a perpetrator attempted to assassinate former President Trump, wounding him and others and taking the life of Trump rally attendee Corey Comperatore, His Eminence offered “heartfelt prayers for the speedy recovery of President Trump and the victims of this most tragic shooting.”
