The Order of Saint Andrew is proud to announce that Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) and the European Center for Law and Justice (ECLJ) will be the featured speaker at the 39th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress Archon breakfast July 16 in Washington, D.C.

Sekulow will focus on issues regarding religious freedom rights and also will outline a new cooperative effort between the ACLJ/ECLJ and the legal committee of the Order of Saint Andrew.

The breakfast, hosted by the Order of Saint Andrew, will be held at 7:30 a.m. in the Delaware Suite B at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel where the Clergy-Laity Congress will be held.

Sekulow is the chief counsel for the ACLJ, a law firm and educational organization that focuses on constitutional law. He holds the same role for the ECLJ, a non-profit law firm dedicated to the protection and defense of religious freedom in Europe. He also has served as a faculty member for the Office of Legal Education at the U.S. Department of Justice where he instructed assistant U.S. attorneys and federal investigators in First Amendment issues associated with prosecution of obscenity cases.

An accomplished and respected judicial advocate, Sekulow has presented oral argument before the U.S. Supreme Court in numerous cases in defense of constitutional freedoms.

A nationally recognized and respected defender of religious freedom, Sekulow has assembled one of the most prestigious law firms in the nation. Founded in 1990, the American Center for Law and Justice focuses in constitutional law. The ACLJ, under Sekulow’s direction, is involved in public interest and public policy issues working to protect religious and constitutional liberties.

In 2007, the Chicago Tribune concluded that the ACLJ has “led the way” in Christian legal advocacy. In 2005, TIME Magazine named Sekulow one of the “25 Most Influential Evangelicals” in America and called the ACLJ “a powerful counterweight” to the ACLU. The National Law Journal has twice named Sekulow one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers” in the United States (1994, 1997). Sekulow is also a popular guest on nationally televised news programs on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, CNBC, and PBS.
