Dear Brother Archons and Friends of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,
The Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate are gratified to note that U.S. President Donald J. Trump has established a Task Force within the Department of Justice to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias.
As Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, a central element of our mission is the protection and defense of religious freedom, and so it is most welcome to see this recognition from the White House of how this core human freedom is being threatened.
In his executive order establishing this task force, the President noted that “Catholic churches and institutions have been aggressively targeted with hundreds of acts of hostility, violence, and vandalism.” This hostility, violence, and vandalism has not been limited to Catholic churches alone, but is taking place against Christians of all faith traditions, and we applaud the President’s efforts to eradicate it.
President Trump also stated: “My Administration will ensure that any unlawful and improper conduct, policies, or practices that target Christians are identified, terminated, and rectified.”
In expressing concern for the persecution of Christians, President Trump echoes His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who met privately in the Oval Office with the President on Monday, September 15, 2025. His All-Holiness stated that they discussed the plight of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Orthodox community in Turkey: “We discussed issues that concern us the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the few Christians that remain in Türkiye, the hardships they face, the difficulties, the persecutions, but also the fact that despite all these we survive and we continue to carry out our mission. President Trump expressed immense interest in the global ministry of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as well as in the difficulties that the Christians of Turkey are enduring.”
His All-Holiness and President Trump also discussed the persecution of Christians in the Middle East, noting the “continuous decrease of Christians in the Middle East” and expressing the “fear that if this continues, one day the holy places will remain without Christians.”
Eleven days after that meeting, on Friday, September 26, 2025, President Trump noted that the shooting in a Mormon church in Minnesota the previous Sunday was “yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America,” and called for an end to “the epidemic of violence in our country.”
As we have abundantly documented at our former ChristianPersecution.com website and on an ongoing basis at Archons.org, Christians are the most persecuted group in the world. This persecution has gained far too little attention from political authorities and human rights organizations worldwide; we thank President Trump for setting an example and raising awareness of this all too prevalent injustice.
Yours in the service of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,
Anthony J. Limberakis, MD
