Rober Koptaş was born in Istanbul and graduated from Marmara University after completing his primary and secondary education at Armenian schools.  He has a master’s degree from Bosporus University Department of Modern Turkish History.

He worked as editor at Aras Publishing House, which is known for its publications on Armenian literature, culture, and history.  He has written articles for various journals and dailies.

Since 2006, he has been working as a journalist and columnist for Agos, a bilingual weekly newspaper founded by Hrant Dink, who was editor-in-chief up to his assassination in 2007.  Mr. Koptaş became editor-in-chief of Agos in 2010.
