Mr. Rockas is a member of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He was the conference planning chairman for the religious freedom conference the Order sponsored in Brussels in 2010. He also is a member of the Order’s Legal Committee and the chairman of the Litigation Sub-Committee of the Legal Committee. In those capacities, he has helped monitor legal issues facing the Greek Orthodox Church minority as well as other religious minorities in Turkey.
He received his B.A. degree from Hamilton College and his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Cornell University. He has been a lawyer for 30 years specializing in civil litigation, with an emphasis on defending non-medical professionals such as lawyers and accountants in malpractice cases and defending insurers in insurance coverage disputes. He has tried a number of cases and argued a number of appeals in state and federal courts.
Since December 2000, he has been the managing partner of the Boston office of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP, a law firm with 25 offices in the United States and an office in London. Throughout his career, Mr. Rockas has been active in the American Bar Association (ABA), including serving as the chairman of the ABA’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee.
