Archbishop Elpidophoros Visits the Metropolis of Chicago
As part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, together with His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago and local clergy, presided over the Vespers Service and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the parish in Palatine, Illinois, on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9.
Following the Divine Liturgy on November 9, the evening concluded with a gala at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, where Archbishop Elpidophoros congratulated the parish on its 50th anniversary with approximately 900 faithful in attendance.
Archbishop Elpidophoros’ travel included a visit to the Metropolis of Chicago offices, a visit to the St. John Chrysostomos Greek Orthodox Monastery in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and concluded with the celebration of Orthros and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Des Plaines, Illinois, on Sunday, November 10.
