Nigeria: At least 48 Christians slain in a matter of days

“At least 48 Nigerian Christians slain in matter of days,” The Alabama Baptist, December 14, 2024:

ABUJA, Nigeria — At least 50 Christians have been killed in three days of attacks upon believers in two Nigerian states.

Thirty were slain Nov. 24 in Logo and Katsina-Ala counties in Nigeria’s Benue state, report the media outlets Christian Daily International and Morning Star News. Another 18, which included women and children, were gunned down Dec. 1 as they were going to church in Azege village, also in Logo County.

Muslim Fulani herdsmen are suspected in both attacks.

‘Shooting anyone in sight’

Joseph Anawah, a community leader, told the news outlets that in excess of 300 herdsmen invaded Christian areas in the two counties Nov. 24, “shooting anyone in sight.”…

On Dec. 6, two more people were slain in nearby Taraba state, reported the news services. Assailants shot to death Clement Anthony, who is a pastor, along with student Titi Edward in their separate residences in Jalingo, sources said.

The news outlets state the gunmen are thought to be Islamic extremists….
