Bangladesh: Hindu homes and temple set on fire in Madaripur

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) noted in 2020 that “amidst the Bangladeshi governments’ broader crackdown on civil rights, freedom of religion or belief continues to be impacted, especially for the country’s religious minorities—including Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and Ahmadi Muslims.”

The persecution of the Hindu minorities in Bangladesh never stops. A fresh case has been come from the Madaripur district of Bangladesh. Islamists allegedly set ablaze Hindu homes and a temple in Umedpur village.

As per the received information, yesterday night, on 19th of June, Islamists Muhammad Khokan and Muhammad Emdadul and their gangs attacked Hindu locality of Ward no 7 of the village. They vandalised few homes of the Hindu minorities and a temple.

After the vandalism, they also set ablaze the homes and the temple. As Islamists were armed, the Hindu minorities couldn’t do anything to resist them.

A video after the attack is already available in the social media. In the video, it can be clearly seen that Hindu women were crying to see burning temple….
