Archon James H. “Jimmy” Moshovitis, who fell asleep in the Lord on December 28, 2024, provides in this video a riveting and detailed recollection of his experiences during World War II. This oral history, which is part of the Digital Collections of the National WWII Museum, offers unique insight into what life was like for the children of Greek immigrants in the run-up to the war, and how thoroughly the conflict disrupted and transformed the daily lives of so many Americans of all faiths and backgrounds.
Archon Jimmy was an early member of Leadership 100, a FAITH Founder, a major benefactor of the Saint Nicholas National Shrine, a strong supporter of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and a devoted defender of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. May his memory be eternal!
The Vice Chair the Board of Trustees of the National WWII Museum is Archon John D. Georges, the CEO of Georges Enterprises in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, stated: “Archon John Georges is providing an invaluable service by collecting oral histories from valiant World War II veterans such as Archon Jimmy Moshovitis of blessed memory. The involvement of both Archons Georges and Moshovitis in this historical endeavor is a marvelous example of the Archons’ diakonia in service of the defense of freedom.”
