In 2014, he worked on the winning campaign of President Juan Carlos Varela of Panama and went on to assist in the coordination of the Panamanian Presidential Inauguration. At the request of President Varela, he returned to Panama and produced the Summit of the Americas which brought together 35 heads of state from all over the world. Gigicos served as the Lead Advance Representative and coordinated logistics and messaging for the historic Apostolic Pilgrimage of Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Jerusalem. He has also worked on countless other high-profile events and summits around the world including the first three US-China Strategic Economic Dialogues in Beijing and Washington.
As an expert in media relations and crisis communications, Gigicos served as a media consultant and spokesman for BP during the Deep-Water Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
In that capacity, he spent over a year on the Gulf Coast developing media strategies, messaging and coordinating press events for what was one of the greatest disasters and crisis communications events ever.
Gigicos is an active member of the Order or St. Andrew, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
