Dimitris Michael Bousis, of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago, the Annunciation Cathedral of Chicago, and Holy Taxiarhai and St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Niles, Illinois, was invested as an Archon in 2005 and conferred with the offikion Maestor. Born in Argos, Greece, he immigrated to the United States at 15 years old. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois in 1976 and worked at Stewart and Warner for ten years before pursuing a career in the food industry. Dimitri is the co-founder, President and CEO of Cermak Produce, Central Park and Cermak Fresh Markets. He is also a proud member of Leadership 100, an esteemed board member of the Pan Hellenic Scholarship Foundation, the Hellenic American Academy and the Hispanics Rights Committee as well as other organizations and institutions that continue the good works set forth by our forefathers.
He is a grand benefactor to many projects, including St. Nicholas National Shrine, Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Metropolis of Sweden and all Scandinavian Countries, St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Niles, St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Chicago gymnasium and community center, Annunciation Cathedral of Chicago restoration of alter and iconography, and building the home of Ascension Greek Orthodox Church. He is a continuous benefactor of the Casa Central Foundation of Chicago, Little City Foundation for children with disabilities, Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Centre, the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation for Northwestern Hospital, Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Center for Cancer and Maryville Academy. He and his wife Eleni have four children, Michael, Victoria, Evangelo and George.
