Didaskalos Tou Genous

Dr.

Dr. Chrysostomos L. Nikias of St. Sophia Cathedral in Los Angeles, CA, was invested as Archon in 2012 and conferred with the offikion Didaskalos Tou Genous. He has been actively engaged in various Church ministries and programs.

Archon Nikias is an honors graduate of the Famagusta Gymnasium in Cyprus, the National Metsovion Polytechnic Institute of Athens, and the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he earned his MS and PhD in Engineering. He is currently the President of the University of Southern California (since 2010). He holds the Robert C. Packard President’s Chair and the Malcolm R. Currie Chair in Technology and the Humanities, and chairs the USC Health System Board. In addition, he currently chairs the College Football Playoff Board of Managers, and chairs the Pac-12 CEO Group. Previously he served as the Provost and Executive Vice President of the same University (2005-2010). He first joined the USC faculty in 1991 and was named Dean of the Engineering School in 2001. He has received many awards for his visionary leadership, has authored publications, and is a member of many professional associations.

Archon Nikias and his wife, Niki, were married in 1977 and have two daughters.
