Meeting of the Ecumenical Patriarch with a high-ranking UNESCO executive
Today, Wednesday, October 7, 2020, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received the Honorable Mr. Mounir Bouchenaki, Special Adviser to the Director-General of UNESCO, at the Holy Monastery of Balukli, during a break in the morning session of the Holy and Sacred Synod. The Ecumenical Patriarch discussed with him issues of common interest, including the recent conversion of Hagia Sophia and the Monastery of Chora into mosques.
The meeting was attended by Their Eminences Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and Metropolitan Gennadios of Sassima, Head of the Balukli Monastery.
It is to be recalled that His All-Holiness has in the past officially visited UNESCO headquarters, where he addressed a special plenary session.
