Last October, the historic church of Holy Transfiguration Monastery on the Island of Halki (Heybeliada) was vandalized by Turkish Forestry officials. His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew recently visited the devastated church to survey its damages and later celebrated a Divine Liturgy with local clergy and faithful on the monastery grounds.
