04/20/13: Father Maximos of Mount Athos leads Archon Lenten Retreat
Father Maximos of Mount Athos led the tenth annual Archon Lenten Retreat, April 19-20, 2013. The retreat focused on three topics during the course of weekend: The Distracted Life, The Buried Seed and From Harvard to Mount Athos which offered participants a glimpse into the daily responsibilities of monastic life. The retreat was held at the Metropolis of NJ Headquarters in Westfield, NJ and organized by National Council member Peter Skeadas, chairman of the Archon Spirituality Committee, along with Archon John Halecky. Over 55 Archons attended the two-day retreat which commenced on Friday evening with an Akathist Hymn at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield. The next day, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, followed by morning and afternoon sessions led by Father Maximos. Later that afternoon, His Eminence Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey joined participants via a Skype session from the Ecumenical Patriarchate and offered his blessings and greetings. (Photos by J.
