03/26/11: Fr. Chryssavgis leads Archon Lenten Retreat
The eighth annual Archon Lenten Retreat was led by Rev. Dr. John Chryssavgis of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and a noted author on Orthodox Spirituality and Church Fathers, held March 25-26, 2011. The retreat focused on "An Ancient Faith for a Modern World: Lessons on the Spiritual Disciplines of Great Lent." It was held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States in Somerset, NJ and organized by National Council member Peter Skeadas, new chairman of the Archon Spirituality Committee, along with Archon John Halecky. Nearly 50 Archons attended the two-day retreat which commenced on Friday evening. The next day, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, followed by morning and afternoon sessions led by Fr. John. His Eminence Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey also visited and joined sessions.
