In preparation for the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Bishop of Mount Athos to Athos

In cooperation with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew today, Saturday, August 3, a delegation from the Holy Community of Mount Athos, consisting of Monk Nicodemos Lavriotis, Monk Nicodemos Agiopaulitis and Hieromonk Sisoes Xenophontinos, came in order to prepare the plan for the visit that will be made by His All-Holiness to Mount Athos from October 19 to October 22.

On Saturday, October 19, the Ecumenical Patriarch will arrive at the Xenophontos Monastery, his first stop on Mount Athos. At the Monastery of Arsana the official reception of His All-Holiness will be held by the Protepistatis, the Holy Abbots and the Representatives of the 20 Holy Athonite Monasteries. The following Sunday, October 20, the Ecumenical Patriarch will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the new Catholicon of the monastery, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of its construction.

During his visit, the Ecumenical Patriarch will visit Karyes, where he will venerate the icon of the Holy Mountain, the Virgin Mary “Axion Esti,” in the Church of Protaton, and will also visit the Holy Monasteries of Vatopedi, Pantokrator and the Sketes of Saint Andrew (Serai), Saint Panteleimon and the Prophet Elias.

During the meeting of His All-Holiness with the Delegation of the Holy Community, the Deacon Gregorios was also present.
