On September 6, 2023 Archon Nicholas J. Tranto, Regional Commander for the Metropolis of Pittsburgh and Archon Dr. Chris Vasilakis, MD made a joint presentation to the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) chapter at West Virginia University. The presentation took place at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Morgantown, West Virginia. Joining Archons Tranto and Vasilakis was the Rev. Fr. Jon Emanuelson, the spiritual advisor to the OCF group.
The group of students included multi-jurisdictional Orthodox and converts to Orthodoxy who remained fully engaged throughout an extended ninety-minute session, asking thought-provoking and often poignant questions about His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Archon Regional Commander Tranto gave an informative PowerPoint presentation on the current issues and political realities facing the Ecumenical Patriarchate; Dr. Vasilakis supplemented this with accounts of his personal experiences at the Phanar and Hagia Sophia.
Archons Tranto and Vasilakis also presented a trailer regarding the Pilgrimage of Discovery (POD) program to the young adults. The OCF chapter’s enthusiasm for the presentation and the POD program in general led to a series of excellent questions and insightful observations from the students.
