The Hellenic Lawyers Association is honoring Archon Nikiforos Mathews at its 33rd Annual Scholarship Dinner Gala, which will be held at the Pierre Hotel in New York City on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 6:30PM ET.
Archon Mathews, who is of Imvrian background, is married to Lambrina Mathews, with whom he shares two children, Alexandra and Luke. He is a member of the community and former Vice President of the parish council of the Annunciation in Stamford, Connecticut, where his father, Fr. Constantine Mathews, served for decades as the parish priest.
Archon Mathews is a finance attorney in Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP’s New York office, where he serves as global co-head of the Derivatives practice and as a member of the firm’s Finance and Audit Committee. He once served as a law clerk to the Hon. Archon Nicholas Tsoucalas of the United States Court of International Trade. From 1999 to 2007, Archon Mathews held a commission as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve, where he was qualified to practice as a Judge Advocate. A veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, he served as an Operational and Administrative Law attorney in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. Among other honors, Archon Mathews was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in connection with his military service.
Nikiforos Mathews was invested as Archon in 2009 and conferred with the offikion Ekdikos.
