With the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and in consultation with His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, has appointed Archon James A. Frangis Regional Commander of the State of Georgia in the Metropolis of Atlanta. Archon Frangis joins Metropolis of Atlanta Regional Commanders Theodore P. Vlahos, M.D.; Harry T. Cavalaris; G. Thomas Yearout, Esq.; and John C. Scurtis.
Archon Frangis succeeds Archon Manuel N. Tissura, D.D.S., who recently informed Dr. Limberakis of his intention to step down as Regional Commander. In recognition of his previous service, Dr. Limberakis invited Archon Dr. Tissura to serve as Emeritus Regional Commander, and he accepted.
His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros stated: “Throughout years of selfless and faithful service in the Holy Metropolis of Atlanta, Archon Jimmy Frangis has demonstrated his leadership capabilities again and again. He has brought innumerable difficult tasks to a successful conclusion through hard work, patient management, perceptive people skills, and above all, an abiding devotion to our loving God and our Holy Orthodox Faith.”
“Archon Jimmy Frangis is a unique combination of significant Χαρίσματα,” said Dr. Limberakis. “He is both pragmatic and visionary. He has been a devoted and active member of both the Annunciation Cathedral in Atlanta and the Holy Transfiguration Church in Marietta, and has shown himself in all manner of ways to be a faithful Greek Orthodox Christian and a true son of our Holy Mother Church in Constantinople. He and his beloved wife Michelle (Tissura) are FOUNDERS of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation (pledged $100,000), thereby serving as examples par excellence for Archons in the Metropolis of Atlanta to provide essential economic security of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in perpetuity. Archon Jimmy’s beloved grandparents were from Constantinople and Smyrna and his roots are steeped in the history, glory and martyria of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Archon Frangis commented: “Our Church has been so richly blessed by the visionary leadership of such people as His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios, Archon Commander Dr. Limberakis and the other leaders of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle. I am deeply humbled and honored by the confidence in me that they have displayed by appointing me as a Regional Commander in the Metropolis of Atlanta. I consider it an extraordinary opportunity to deepen my devotion and service to His All-Holiness and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”
