Dear Brother Archons,
The Archon office was recently notified about the sad news of the passing of Archon Haralambos Tzanetatos of Panama City, Panama, who was the former Consul General of Greece to Panama. He fell asleep in the Lord on May 17, 2023. He was invested as an Archon in New York City by His Eminence Archbishop Iakovos in 1986, and conferred with the offikion Exarchos. Many of our brother Archons who attended the 2nd Archon International Religious Freedom Conference, in Berlin, Germany, “Tearing Down Walls,” will remember with great fondness the extraordinary warmth and hospitality of Archon Bobby.

Haralambos “Bobby” Tzanetatos Antonatos
Archon Haralambos distinguished himself with his long career of philanthropy and devotion to the Church and the Omogeneia. He served as President of the Hellenic Orthodox Charitable Community of Panama from 1973 to 1979. In 1978, he was appointed Honorary General Consul of Greece in the Republic of Panama, a title he held until his passing. Among the many philanthrophic endeavors which he initiated or with which he was involved were the Lucy Tzanetatos Neurological Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the well-being of those who require care and attention for neurological injuries; Hogar Lucy Tzanetatos, shelters for mothers of hospitalized children; and Hospital del Niño, an advanced neurological laboratory for the rehabilitation of patients with neurological problems.
During the government of President Martín Torrijos of Panama, Archon Haralambos donated the land upon which where the hospital that today bears the name of his youngest daughter, the late Irma de Lourdes Tzanetatos.
In recognition of his indefatigable efforts to make the world a better place, Archon Haralambos was awarded the “Keys to the City” in Miami, Florida in 1979. In 1998, Dr. Ernesto Pérez Balladares, President of the Republic of Panama, gave Archon Haralambos the “Keys to the City” for his cultural and economic contributions to the country. The following year, Panama City Mayor Juan Carlos Navarro also gave Archon Haralambos the “Keys to the City.”
In 2001, Archon Haralambos was awarded a plaque from the Athletics Association in Athens, Greece for his significant efforts in this field. That same year, he was awarded the Medal of the City of Athens by the Mayor of Greece, in recognition of the brotherhood between Greece and Panama. In 2015, the Universidad Alta Dirección (UAD) awarded him an honorary doctorate for his contribution to economic development and education in the Republic of Panama. Also in 2015, the Ibero-American Association of Chambers of Commerce awarded him the Aico Medal of Honor for Business Merit, for his contribution to the development of Ibero-American commercial activities.
In 2020, Archon Haralambos was awarded the Manuel Amador Guerrero order in the Grade of Grand Cross, the highest decoration conferred by the President of the Republic of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo. Then earlier this year, he received the Decoration of Greece from Ioannis Chrisoulakis, Secretary of Greeks Abroad, for his services, philanthropy and promotion of education and Hellenic culture, and works promoting the name of Greece in Panama.
Archon Haralambos had a long and fruitful marriage to his beloved wife Irma Dutari de Tzanetatos. They had three daughters, Marianela Tzanetatos Dutari, as well as Lucía del Carmen Tzanetatos Dutari and Irma de Lourdes Tzanetatos Dutari, both of whom preceded him in falling asleep in the Lord. The couple had his five grandchildren: Julio Haralambos Córdoba Tzanetatos, Valeria del Carmen Lymberopulos Tzanetatos, Roberto Lymberopulos Tzanetatos, Alejandro Lymberopulos Tzanetatos, and Nikolas Lymberopulos Tzanetatos.
