With the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and in consultation with His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta, Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, has appointed Archon Stephanos G. Trakas Regional Commander for North and South Carolina, along with Archons Dr. Terry Sarantou and Frank Boardman. They succeed Archon Harry T. Cavalaris, who is retiring, and has accepted the Commander’s invitation to assume Emeritus status, in recognition of his many years of service.
Dr. Limberakis stated: “Archon Steve Trakas is a man of service and vision, who in less than three years as an Archon has thrown himself fully and joyfully into the service of our beloved Ecumenical Patriarchate. Our pair of new Regional Commanders for North and South Carolina, Archons Trakas and Sarantou, enlightened our youth about the work of the Archons and the Ecumenical Patriarchate at the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival and the Hellenic Dance Festival for the Metropolis of Atlanta. Along with Archon Drew Theodore, Archons Trakas and Sarantou also organized the trailblazing Religious Freedom Symposium at the University of South Carolina, ‘God Created Us to Live In Harmony (Romans 12:16),’ which featured His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. Archon Trakas is inspiring in his unstinting dedication to our Holy Mother Church of Constantinople.”
“I am honored,” Archon Trakas stated, “for this chance to increase my labors for our Holy Church in continuing fellowship with my dear friends Archon Terry and Archon Frank. I accept this new responsibility as Regional Commander with gratitude, and with deep commitment to further the mission of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and to protect the religious freedom of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”
Archon Steve Trakas is an active member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Greenville, South Carolina, and serves on the Advisory Board of the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation and is an Ambassador of the Metropolis Council of the Metropolis of Atlanta. He is Executive Vice President of Gibbs International, Inc., a family office that invests and manages assets in the energy, industrial, real estate, and advanced technology industries. He also serves on the Board of Directors for American Red Cross Upstate SC, Board of Directors for Palmetto InnovaSphere, and the Advisory Board of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Carolinas.
Stephanos Gus Trakas was invested as an Archon on October 9, 2022 and conferred with the offikion Hartoularios.
