Dear Brother Archons,

The Archon office was recently notified regarding the sad news of the passing of Archon Ernie Anastos, who fell asleep in the Lord on March 12, 2026. Archon Anastos was invested with the title of Hieromnimon on March 8, 1997.

Archon Ernie, a legendary journalist, Emmy Award winning TV news anchor and brother Archon brilliantly served as Master of Ceremonies at among the most noteworthy Athenagoras Human Rights Award Banquets including those that honored Desmond Tutu (2000), President George and Former First Lady Barbara Bush (2002) and President Mikail Gorbachev (2005).

On behalf of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, we express our deep sympathy to his wife, Kelly, and their entire family with abiding faith in our Lord and Savior and with hope in His resurrection!
