On Sunday, November 19, 2023, Archons of the Metropolis of Boston conducted two lectures at the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston, MA in advance of the feast day of the first called Apostle, St. Andrew. The presentations provided an overview of what an Archon is; the meaning of the title; an overview of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and our church’s history; and the five issues experienced by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Turkey. In addition, a Memorial Service was conducted for departed Archons, Patriarchs and Hierarchs of the church during the service. “I was absolutely delighted with the feedback we received from our parishioners who told me they learned so much about the church and had a much greater appreciation for our 2000 year old faith,” said Jim Speros, Regional Commander and parishioner of St. Demetrios.
