2012 Archon Weekend: Schedule of Events

The annual Archon Weekend and Assembly of the Order of Saint Andrew will be held October 19-21 at the Hilton Hotel in New York. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation will be the recipient of this year's Athenagoras Human Rights Award. Andreas Dracopoulos, Director and Co-President, will accept the Award on behalf of the Niarchos Foundation at the Archon Grand Banquet, Saturday, October 20. Full Text


Archons Fountas and Halecky named 2012 recipients of Bouras Award

The Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle is pleased to announce that Archons James C. Fountas, National Treasurer, and John Halecky, Jr., National Secretary, have been nominated as recipients of this year’s Nicholas J. Bouras Award for Extraordinary Archon Stewardship. A special tribute dinner dance will be held at the New York Hilton Hotel, Friday evening, Oct. 19, 2012, as part of the Order's annual three-day assembly, Oct. 19-21. Full Text

The Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate thank Archbishop Demetrios of America for sending Metropolitan Methodios of Boston to offer the closing prayer at the Republican National Convention this evening. We applaud the venerable Metropolitan for offering an inspiring benediction beseeching the "Heavenly King" to "bless and inspire the delegates of the Convention" and to "Shine in the hearts of the nominees [Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan]... the radiant light of [His] Divine will. Metropolitan Methodios, representing Archbishop Demetrios, offers prayer at Republican National Convention

On August 29, 2012, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston, who represented His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America on behalf of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, offered the Orthodox Christian prayer at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL. The prayer was offered immediately following the acceptance speech of vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan. Originally, the Archbishop was scheduled to offer the benediction but was unable to do so due to his travel to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople. Full Text
